Contemporary conservative dentistry deals with prevention and treatment of dental caries.
How does dental caries develop?
Four factors contribute to its formation:
Susceptibility of the teeth
When all the above-mentioned factors occur simultaneously, the tooth tissue is damaged – a carious cavity is formed.
How do we treat dental caries?
The tooth tissue destroyed by caries cannot regenerate. The treatment consists in removing the affected tissue under anaesthesia and filling the cavity with light-cured material that perfectly imitates the tooth tissue.
How to prevent dental caries?
The most important thing is perfect oral hygiene and a proper diet. It is also necessary to attend regular control dental appointments which allow for detection of dental caries at its earliest stage.
A general dental check-up is recommended for adults every 6 months and for children even every 3 months.
