Cosmetic dentistry involves...

Cosmetic dentistry consists of treatments and procedures aimed at achieving the smile the patient dreams of, usually straight and white teeth, the so-called Hollywood smile. At Stomatologia Wichlińscy we perform the following cosmetic dentistry procedures:

Teeth whitening removes stains and discolouration from the tooth enamel surface. Thus, we lighten the shade by several to several tones. After the whitening procedure, we obtain a lighter colour of the enamel.

Covers the entire tooth surface. It is used in cases of tooth damage or when restoring a missing tooth with dental implants. Prosthetic crowns improve the aesthetics of the teeth and restore the functionality associated with biting food.
A dental implant is a titanium screw embedded in the bone that acts as a natural tooth root and allows for tooth restoration in patients who have lost one or more teeth. Tooth loss causes many problems that a dental implant can solve, followed by a crown on top of the implant. With these two procedures, patients quickly return to the state they were in before tooth loss.
Orthodontics deals with improving the arrangement of teeth in the jaw. Orthodontic treatment helps to achieve straight teeth. It especially helps patients with malocclusion or displaced teeth. The fitting of orthodontic braces is the beginning of the road to achieving beautiful and straight teeth.
Periodontology is the branch of dentistry that deals with the study and treatment of periodontal diseases, i.e. the tissues surrounding the teeth. It deals with the diagnosis, prevention and treatment of conditions affecting the gums, the bones around the teeth. Healthy gums affect the health of the entire oral cavity.

What is cosmetic dentistry?

Cosmetic dentistry is concerned with improving the aesthetics of the smile. From the alignment of teeth, to their shape and colour. The scope of aesthetic dentistry combines the knowledge of many specialisations: orthodontics, implantology, prosthetics. The end result, i.e. a beautiful smile, is the work of a whole team of specialists.

Most often, cosmetic dentistry is associated with the restoration of the crown of a tooth in its entirety. For example, when a tooth has been damaged by decay or a tooth has been broken in an accident. In such cases, we use veneers, crowns or onlays to restore the smile. A patient who reports to the offices of Stomatologia Wichlińscy with a missing tooth is first referred to a dental implantologist. The missing tooth is replaced with a dental implant to which a tooth crown is attached.

How to improve the appearance of teeth?

White and evenly aligned teeth have become a dream for many people. Today, thanks to cosmetic dentistry, patients who want to make their dreams come true have them within reach. Of course, the basis of the work of cosmetic dentistry specialists, i.e. prosthodontists, implantologists and orthodontists, is healed teeth. Therefore, our patients who come to our surgeries in Kraków and Gorlice are first referred for a check-up and hygienization. After these procedures, we invite you to specialist consultations, which will allow us to prepare a treatment plan that includes obtaining the straight and white teeth of your dreams.

Cosmetic dentistry
what is it?

Cosmetic dentistry is a branch of dentistry that focuses on improving the appearance of the patient's mouth, teeth and gums.

Prosthodontic specialists are responsible for restoring missing teeth through the use of crowns, bridges and dentures. Implant surgeons are responsible for replacing missing teeth using titanium dental implants. The work of a periodontist allows for the reshaping of the gums, which can immediately improve the aesthetics of the smile. Conservative dentists use modern composite materials to achieve a natural shade of enamel.

Can damaged teeth be repaired?

Cosmetic dentistry comes to the rescue of patients who, for a variety of reasons, are struggling with damaged teeth and dream of having beautiful white teeth. In our practice, we see patients who, due to medication, illness or dentophobia, have lost the confidence to smile widely and show their teeth. The improvement of the smile, condition of teeth and gums is the result of professional hygiene, teeth whitening as well as the application of veneers or crowns.

Smile aesthetics also means replacing old fillings with new ones.

How to have white teeth?

There are many ways to achieve a white smile. In-office methods include teeth whitening, which is the lightening of enamel and the removal of stains. In the case of teeth qualified for reconstruction, prosthetic specialists have many proposals for solutions. In the offices of Stomatologia Wichlińscy, we perform restorations of teeth using veneers, crowns and onlay, inlay methods. All of them allow to obtain white and even teeth. Patients are often impressed with the natural look of their teeth achieved by prosthetic restoration.

Are white teeth healthy?

White teeth are a sign of health, but remember that everyone's enamel colour varies. Some people have naturally white teeth, while other patients have to make more time and sacrifices to obtain and maintain white teeth. These are the cases where patients choose aesthetic tooth restoration, during which dentists make veneers. Veneers are new and white teeth on top of the patient's existing teeth. After the treatment is completed, patients comment on their metamorphoses (link to metamorphoses tab here) "I finally have the beautiful white teeth I always dreamed of". For our doctors, the greatest compliment, is knowing that thanks to their work, patients smile more and thus have a better life.

Are veneers the way to get white teeth?

Patients who are looking to achieve a beautiful and white smile opt for all-ceramic veneers. This is especially true when dental problems include unevenness, discolouration and gaps between teeth. Veneers are thin plates, made of porcelain and permanently attached to the front of the teeth. The fitting of veneers is divided into two stages. In the first, the dentist removes the enamel from the front surface of the tooth to create space for the veneers. Next, impressions or intraoral scans are taken, which are sent to a dental technician, where the veneers are made in a dental laboratory. On the second visit, the dentist permanently attaches the veneers to the teeth.

Veneers improve the aesthetics of teeth, giving them a natural appearance.

Due to their durability and resistance to staining, they have become a popular option in cosmetic dentistry. If you would like to learn about a treatment plan that includes the possibility of restoring your teeth with veneers then please call and arrange a prosthodontic consultation.

Are dental crowns the solution to a chipped tooth?

A dental crown is the entire visible part of a tooth, located above the gum. Crowns are made of various materials; at Stomatologia Wichlińscy we make all-ceramic and metal-ceramic crowns. Both materials are durable and allow for a natural appearance of the tooth.

In the case of a chipped tooth, a dental crown can be an effective solution that restores both the function and aesthetics of the tooth, while maintaining a natural appearance and harmony in the mouth. It is important to consult a dentist who will assess the condition of the tooth and prescribe appropriate prosthetic treatment.
In addition, dental crowns are used in cases of large tooth loss, fracture during an accident, and for restoration after root canal treatment

What is the difference between dental crowns and dental bonding?

In the case of large cavities, broken teeth or after root canal treatment, dental crowns are used. This is when the crown replaces the part of the tooth visible above the gum, restoring all biting functions and ensuring that a natural smile is maintained.

Tooth crowns

Dental crowns are made...

In the dental laboratory from porcelain on a metal substructure or entirely in porcelain. This allows the durability of such a restoration to be combined with aesthetics.

The process of restoring a tooth through a crown...

Requires preparation of the tooth, taking an impression or scan, sending it back to the dental technician for precise crown fabrication.

Dental crowns are durable...

And they can last for many years, providing protection and strengthening weakened teeth.

Tooth bonding

Bonding is recommended...

For small cavities, uneven tooth surfaces or discolouration. Bonding consists of applying and moulding composite material directly onto the surface of the patient's teeth.

Tooth bonding uses...

Composite, which is a special dental material analogous to the material used to treat cavities in teeth.

The dentist performing bonding...

He applies and shapes the composite directly onto the tooth and, as with a filling, fixes it with a special light.

What is an onlay, an inlay?

The onlay, inlay method of tooth restoration is one type of dental restoration that is used when the cavity in the tooth structure is too large to be repaired with a standard filling, but at the same time a crown is not necessary.
Such as porcelain or composite, which is precisely fitted to the damaged part of the tooth, covering both its chewing and lateral surfaces.
During the first visit, the dentist prepares the tooth by removing damaged tooth tissue and preparing the tooth surface for onlay placement. An impression or intraoral scan of the tooth will then be taken, which will be used to fabricate a customised onlay, inlay in the dental laboratory. The patient will receive a temporary restoration to protect the tooth until the second visit.
The doctor removes the temporary restoration and cements the onlay, inlay into the tooth. The onlay/inlay is precisely fitted to the shape of the tooth and provides a permanent restoration, restoring chewing function and aesthetics.
When cavities are large but the tooth structure allows most of the healthy tissue to remain. It is less invasive and more conservative than a full crown, while still providing a permanent and aesthetically pleasing restoration of the tooth.
Onlays/inlays are more durable, abrasion-resistant and easier to clean. In addition, due to its precise fit to the tooth, onlays can effectively strengthen a weakened tooth structure.

Are crowns and veneers the only way to repair a damaged tooth?

If the condition of the tooth allows it, prosthodontic specialists use inlays, onlays and overlays. This is the term for the different types of crown inlays. By using these, the dentist can offer the patient an aesthetically pleasing and durable tooth restoration. Achieving the natural shape and appearance of the tooth and restoring chewing function. The choice of the right type of inlay depends on the size and location of the cavity in the tooth and the individual needs of the patient. This is decided by the dentist after appropriate diagnostics have been carried out. The main advantage of these inlays is the ability to precisely reconstruct the anatomical shape of the tooth. In addition, inlays, onlays and overlays are distinguished by their high abrasion resistance, aesthetics and durability.

What instead of bonding?

The flow-injection procedure takes place in several stages. First, impressions are taken from which a blueprint of the future tooth alignment is created. Next, the surface of the teeth is prepared to ensure a firm bond between the composite and the outer layer of the tooth. In the next step, using a transparent splint, the dentist applies the composite to the tooth surface, achieving the desired effect.

The method makes it possible to aesthetically improve the smile without the need to grind the surface of the teeth. It is worth remembering that the smile obtained with flow-injection may not be as permanent as traditional veneers, onlays, inlays or crowns, but it can be easily corrected or reconstructed based on a previously created smile design and a dedicated splint.

How to get beautiful white teeth at the dentist's office?

The choice of the appropriate method of tooth restoration depends on the individual needs of the patient and the characteristics of the damage. We always recommend a consultation with an experienced dentist who can help you make the best decision and tailor a treatment plan to your specific circumstances.

Bonding:
composite restoration

Bonding allows the colour of the composite to exactly match the natural tooth colour, making it almost invisible.

It is a relatively quick and simple procedure that can be carried out in a single visit to the dentist.

Reconstructing a tooth without using a crown. Bonding is often used to repair smaller cavities in teeth, avoiding the need for a dental crown.

Flow Injection:
another technique for applying the composite, similar to bonding

This technique enables even hard-to-reach areas to be filled accurately, contributing to a lasting effect.

Flow injection is characterised by the material's flexibility, which allows it to be used in a variety of situations, including filling smaller cavities and correcting tooth shape and colour.

Applying the composite by flow injection requires minimal removal of healthy tooth tissue, which is beneficial for the health of the tooth.

Veneers:
all-ceramic restoration, work carried out by a technician

Veneers are made from materials that have a very natural appearance, allowing you to achieve a beautiful smile without any visible defects in your teeth.

Durable and resistant to discolouration, which means the patient can enjoy the result for many years.

Compared to dental crowns, veneers require much less removal of healthy tooth tissue when preparing the tooth for treatment.
